FroYo

I’ve got an obsession. Want to know what it is? I’ll give you a hint, it starts with frozen and ends in yogurt.

Every Tuesday is two punch Tuesday at TCBY and I am very proud to have surpassed filling one punch card.

Right next to my apartment building is Mochi, another frozen yogurt joint. And then there’s Red Mango, I have a lot of coupons for red Mango.

My pal Alicia lent me the Bible there. It’s the ESV study Bible, it’s awesome. I’ve got a study Bible and I’ve got an ESV Bible, but it just isn’t the same as an ESV study Bible.

Also this week, I finished my still life painting for class!

One and a half school assignments down and half to go. As I write this I’m procrastinating from finishing a paper for a reporting class.

Orange And Blue

Orange and blue; it’s the colours of the University of Florida and the colours of this blog post. I’ve got a new painting and a new recipe.

This painting was done most in blue and grey hues. I really love the colours the tin can reflect, especially when it’s rusting.

I found this recipe for Moroccan Carrots on this website: http://www.fresh365online.com/recipes/2010/9/13/moroccan-carrots.html

I can barely cook anything, but these are way easy to make and way delicious.

Spring Is Creeping In

I finished one of my first colour oil paintings. The subject: food.

I know that during winter you are supposed to eat a lot of soup and hot chocolate, in fall you eat turkey, pies, and cider, and for summer it’s citrus and ice cream.

But what should I be eating in the spring?

Seriously, someone tell me.

This is an example of a summer food and, even though I associate citrus with the hot weather, it’s in season basically all the time here in Florida.

Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone

I love Valentine food so much.

The “Sinamon roll”

A special thanks to everyone who made my weight gain possible. I love you all.

Super Cupcakes, Super Bowl

Sunday is a day for so many delightful things. A day of church services, Sunday brunches and once a year it means Super Bowl Sunday.

I’ll start with brunch. What’s not to like about an extra meal in the day? Or is brunch supposed to take the place of breakfast and lunch?

Now for the Super Bowl, Kaitlynn and I made cupcakes. If you haven’t heard of the Fun Stuff Cupcake book then you need to check it out. This is the best cupcakes recipe.

  • Cookie dough
  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup hot water
  1. Preheat oven to 350F
  2. Roll cookie dough into 1 inch balls and freeze while preparing batter
  3. Sift flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt into bowl. Beat butter in separate bowl with mixer about 2 minutes. Add sugar; beat until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  4. Add sour cream and water to butter mixture alternating with flour mixture; beat until blended. Fill non-stick muffin pans with the batter then place a cookie dough ball into each cup.
  5. Bake 20-22 minutes.

Due to lack of caffeine and lack of sleep I was exhausted by the end of the game. I felt like death. Speaking of death this is my fist oil painting I did recently in my painting class. And yes I am looking for any excuse to add my art work into this post.

A Dash Or This A Pinch Of That

I know, this blog is crammed full of grapefruits. I like grapefruits. What of it?

Before you judge me for going through seven of these fruits in a week you should be aware of the benefits. The grapefruit is rich in vitamins C, B1 and B2. Grapefruit is also a good source of citric acids, potassium and calcium. It is low in calories. It is excellent as an aid in the digestion of meats. When taken before you go to bed, grapefruit is conducive to a sound sleep. It is also good for reducing fevers from colds and the flu. The rind of the grapefruit contains vitamin P, which is an important vitamin for healthy gums and teeth. This fruit can also help hardening of body tissue, which is a good thing.

So there…

Also, for some reason I keep drawing facial hair on things. Again, I know, it’s weird.

I don’t have any fun facts about mustaches as art.

Sorry.

P.S. We cleaned out our refrigerator this week; a lot of crazy, random, old things.

Avoiding Work

Raise your hand if you have ever procrastinated. I don’t care if you’re in public. Just do it, it makes life more fun.

There are plenty of things I should be doing. These include cleaning, school work, church work, finishing a painting and grocery shopping. Instead I’m playing with my food and blogging.

All week long the weather has been beautiful. I really thought Gainesville would get through an entire week without rain for the first time this semester.

And then I walked outside this morning. I mean it wasn’t like I was walking through 3 foot deep puddles, but still. I just want one week where my hair isn’t affected by humidity.
