Pale, fair-skinned, delicate, porcelain, glow-in-the-dark, pasty, whatever you want to call it, it’s what I am.
Every summer while everyone else’s skin is dropping a few shades after an hour of sun exposure. While mine shows barely any change in colour after a week at the beach.
It’s fine, I accept it. While the rest of you beautiful people have wrinkles and skin cancer in ten years I’ll be the one mocking you for not wearing the SPF 70 sunscreen made for infants.
While on the subject of beautiful people, my grandmother’s birthday is today. Happy birthday Gammy! For her birthday I painted a picture of her from an old black and white photograph.
I’ve got to say, Gammy was a babe. And I adore her dress, it’s so cute.
This isn’t oil on masonite like the rest of my paintings, it’s acrylic on canvas.

I have just ended a weekend spent in Tampa with some of my favorite people. Every morning I woke up to the sun rising over the beach.
The bulk of the weekend was spent in fellowship with my sisters in Christ and the rest was spent with wonderful food.
We spent the first night there in search of dinner on the crazy Tampa highways. During our hour-long fight against traffic ourcar spotted a Whole Foods store to our right.
We were pretty stoked.
We returned the next day and spent a few hours shopping and sampling in the grocery store. That is where I purchased this super great organic tea. And as the label promises, it made me feel like Zeus.
The most exciting part of the weekend also occurred on our first night there. My sister and a friend of mine spotted a familiar looking man getting off the elevator in our hotel lobby. He pasted by me and said hello. He even sounded familiar.
Then things in my sister’s mind clicked, “He’s that one guy, from all those movies!”
I approached him asking if he was an actor, he was indeed the Larry Miller. He was really nice and talked to us for a small amount of time.
You may recognize him from Pretty Woman, 10 Things I Hate About You, Nutty Professor, Princess Diaries, Seinfeld, For Your Consideration and a ton more shows and movies.
