Frozen Fruit And A Killer Sandwich

I’ve been forcing myself to learn how to make real food. In a few weeks I’ll go back to living on my own and I refuse to eat nothing but green beans, frozen yogurt, peanut better, or grapefruits for every meal.

I’ve mastered baking, but I should really broaden my horizon.

I figured out how to make fruit popsicles. The recipe is really easy to make.

You just combine fruit and sugar, about 2 cups of fruit and 2 table spoons of a fine grain sugar will yield 3 medium-sized popsicles.

I made two flavors: strawberry and yogurt and lemon blueberry. I tried adding plain yogurt to the strawberry for a cream sickle.

Okay, the next recipe is a tuna sandwich with humus. If you’re skeptical I don’t blame you, but I promise it’s good.

I like to make my tuna salad with olive oil, capers, parsley, lemon and onions instead of mayonnaise and relish. I used toasted wheat bread, spread the humus on, layer sliced cucumbers then the tuna salad.

It’s been a relaxing week because I got a chance to not only make food and blog but I also managed to find some free time to do a few paintings. This is my favorite from this week.

Nailed It

Breakfast and doing my nails and filling out paper work, I do this far too often. It’s almost my daily routine. Now thanks to a tip from a friend I learned how to transfer magazine clippings to my nails.

You’ll need rubbing alcohol, nail polish. clear polish, and a magazine.

Okay, first paint your nails, any colour will do. let them dry. Now cut down pieces from the magazine that will fit on your nail and soak them in the rubbing alcohol. Then you’ll place them on your nail, let it dry. Once it’s dry wet it again with the alcohol and slowly peel off the paper. It should leave then ink behind. now just paint a clear coat over it and you’re done.

And no post is complete unless I’ve shamelessly inserted one of my own paintings. This was a birthday gift for a friend, I know it’s weird but it’s an inside joke so trust me it’s not super weird.

A Dash Or This A Pinch Of That

I know, this blog is crammed full of grapefruits. I like grapefruits. What of it?

Before you judge me for going through seven of these fruits in a week you should be aware of the benefits. The grapefruit is rich in vitamins C, B1 and B2. Grapefruit is also a good source of citric acids, potassium and calcium. It is low in calories. It is excellent as an aid in the digestion of meats. When taken before you go to bed, grapefruit is conducive to a sound sleep. It is also good for reducing fevers from colds and the flu. The rind of the grapefruit contains vitamin P, which is an important vitamin for healthy gums and teeth. This fruit can also help hardening of body tissue, which is a good thing.

So there…

Also, for some reason I keep drawing facial hair on things. Again, I know, it’s weird.

I don’t have any fun facts about mustaches as art.

Sorry.

P.S. We cleaned out our refrigerator this week; a lot of crazy, random, old things.

There’s A Mouse In My House

Breakfast is the best meal of the day. I love sitting down with a cup of coffee and watching the sunrise. Morning seem more peaceful then the rest of the day.

Experimenting with food and recipes can be rewarding at times but, it can also yield unfortunate results.

Pancakes are the best breakfast food, probably because they are so versatile. My friend Caitlin and I explored this further. Along with pancake mix at hand we set out into the baking work with apples, baby bananas, cinnamon, chocolate, and a bowl of fruit for balance.

Mickey Mouse, a classic.

All the colours of the rainbow.
